What is the Cancer Immunology Fund?

The Cancer Immunology Fund helps to support our world-leading Centre for Cancer Immunology. The money you fundraise will help to fund a variety of cancer research initiatives, including: PhDs within cancer immunology, clinical trials, patient treatment, PPE, and equipment to conduct vital research. By fundraising for the Cancer Immunology Research, you will help us in the battle against cancer and will bring hope to patients and their families.

Every year, we push the boundaries of cancer research and innovate a variety of new treatments. Since the Centre first opened, we have been able to develop a revolutionary DNA cancer vaccine to encourage the immune system to recognise cancer, have discovered a new way to identify patients that are twice as likely to die from lung cancer, and have launched a clincial trial to test an immunotherapy treatment for bladder cancer.

How you can save lives at Southampton

The difference the Cancer Immunology Fund can make to cancer patients is huge, and it all starts with you.

The Cancer Immunology Fund will help to revolutionise the treatment of cancer, by creating new, less destructive immunotherapy treatments enabling us to save countless lives. By fundraising for the Cancer Immunology Fund, you will help fast track these amazing discoveries, ensuring cancer patients around the world can get the immunotherapy treatments they urgently need.

The Money you fundraise will have an incredible impact - you will help to support clinical trials, early concept ideas for new treatment, or even new methods for earlier detection. You fundraising will help to push the boundaries of cancer research, which gives everyone hope for the future.

What your fundraising will support

Thanks to our donors, supporters, and community fundraisers like you, people all over the world have been able to benefit from new cancer treatments developed at the Centre for Cancer Immunology. However, there are still new treatments to be discovered and more lives to save, so we need your help now more than ever to help even more patients live longer, healthier lives.

£100 could help pay for a day of research to help us pioneer the next big breakthrough in treating cancer

£250 could help ensure patients get the right treatment for their cancer. £250 would help pay for vital tests to determine how a cancer patient’s immune cells are responding to their treatment

£500 could help towards the cost for a new piece of equipment for the Centre for Cancer Immunology laboratories

£1000 could help towards the costs of a clinical trial, ensuring treatments get to the patients who need them most

Your fundraising impact

Your fundraising means so much more than just financial support. By fundraising, you will:

  • Improve patient outcomes, survival rates, and give cancer patients a higher quality of life.
  • Accelerate discoveries by allowing researchers to explore new ideas, therapies and treatment options, leading to more effective cancer treatments.
