The Ignite Programme
Right now, 60 ambitious first-year students like Allissa are hoping for a place on our ground-breaking Ignite Programme when they start this September. Every one of them comes from a disadvantaged or under-represented background, where the barriers they have faced to get to higher education have been significant.
At the University of Southampton, we believe they deserve the same chance as their peers to study here, maximise the opportunities of offer and fulfil their potential. That’s a chance you can give them by supporting Ignite with a monthly gift.
Ignite is fully funded by generous donations from our alumni and supporter community. It provides students like Allissa with a life-changing package of support to ensure they can thrive at Southampton and secure for themselves a bright future after graduation.
By making a regular gift to the Ignite Programme, you will be supporting a student throughout their degree, providing them with access to:
- Vital financial support, so they can focus on their studies instead of worrying about how they will pay for essentials like rent, food, or transport.

£10 a month could help a student with travel costs to and from their classes
£25 a month could help a student buy study materials for their course
£50 a month could give a student the chance to say yes to an opportunity, like attending a skills workshop or joining a student club
£100 a month could provide a student a with a laptop or other essential technology to support their studies
£250 a month could help a student feel secure by covering essential food and living costs
£500 a month could help towards a student's accommodation costs
